Hexagramm Books
Visual Identity & Strategy
2017-2020
As Director of Marketing, I had the privilege of partnering with founders Marie Bouteillon and Rob Celic to shape the vision for this highly successful literacy product, now supporting dual language classrooms across the U.S.
Project Overview
Working closely with Marie and Rob, two founders who turned their passion for dual language learning into a high-quality product now found in classrooms across the U.S., we helped shape the lively, inviting brand that is Hexagramm Books today.
Their vision came alive through deep collaboration (and more than a few cups of tea). As their “baby,” this brand deserved the same warmth and vibrancy that dual language students and teachers bring to their classrooms.
From a pixelated starting point, we built Hexagramm Books a true visual home. We chose bold, joyful colors that speak to elementary-age learners and educators, and designed with triangles, dots, and freely moving lines, graphic echoes of a thriving classroom where structure and freedom coexist. We played with photography, icons, and typography inspired by Brooklyn, NY, the company’s birthplace, and infused the brand with an urban heartbeat.
To reach dual language teachers and programs, we created an interactive display and brought it to national conferences, including La Cosecha in Albuquerque, NM. Digitally, we connected with teachers through Just Good Teaching, a blog for the dual language community written by award-winning educator (and Hexagramm Books co-owner) Marie Bouteillon. Through this platform, we delivered mini teaching tips, small doses of value, straight to teachers’ inboxes.
